0-10 DataThe following information is available in HTML, Mircrosoft Word or Adobe's PDF format.
From the 2000 Profiles of Student Life: Attitudes and Behaviors (PSL: AB) survey, the community learned 20% or 443 young people have only 0-10 of the 40 Developmental Assets. A surge of energy and interest developed around these special adolescents. During the summer of 2001, Great Lakes Center for Youth Development (GLCYD) acquired a data cut from Search Institute showing the Asset Profile, Deficits, Thriving Indicators, Substance Use Risk-taking Behaviors, Risk-taking Behaviors, and Risk-taking Behavior Patterns of the 0-10 asset youth or the most high-risk youth. Armed with this information, GLCYD staff first conducted interviews with community members who have deep knowledge and experience in working with high-risk youth. Through these conversations, GLCYD learned more about the data and how the lack of supports and high level of engagement in risk-taking behaviors had devastating impacts on young people, their families, and communities.
