Type of Education by Gender

Ninety-two percent of males and ninety-seven percent of females reported they intend to continue their education beyond high school. This decision is made at a very young age with 96% of 8th grade students reporting they intend to continue their education. As illustrated by the chart above, most young people reported they plan to attend college. It is interesting that 78% of females and 63% of males plan to go onto college, a 15-point difference by gender. Equally interesting is the 10-point difference by gender of youth who intend on going into military service, 12% of males and 2% of females.
